Lora Garcelon will demonstrate her mixed media process and lead a hands-on workshop. Lora's imagination has no limits.
Look CLOSELY at her work and you will see lots of interesting textures, patterns, words, and even musical notes.
Watermedia Artist Lora Garcelon was born in Columbus, Ohio where she took her first painting class in high school. She attended the Ohio State University, graduating in 1991 with a degree in pharmacy. In 2005, after several years working as a pharmacist and raising a family, she picked up her brushes and started taking private painting lessons, focusing on learning design and composition. She paints primarily in water based media- watercolor, gouache and acrylic, sometimes adding elements of collage to her work. She has recently started experimenting with acrylic marbling and incorporating this into her paintings. She paints what she sees and experiences in daily life- her family and friends, pets, and scenes from family vacations. Lora is a signature member of Michigan Watercolor Society, where she has won several awards for her paintings. Other memberships include Livingston Fine Art Association, Brighton Art Guild, National Watercolor Society and International Society of Experimental Artists. “My goal is to create a work that exceeds my expectations and that surprises the viewer. I love the unpredictability of watercolor. Paintings truly take on a life of their own.”

Spend an evening strolling through both floors of the Historic Opera House for 9th Annual Opera Art Live, enjoying drinks from our cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres & desserts while observing artists creating art LIVE on location. The night will end with a silent auction of the artwork followed by an Artist Afterglow.
At 8:30 pm the artists will cease working, at which time the guests can place their final bids for their favorite piece. The bid sheets and art work will then be picked up and all moved to the main level and be set up on tables to find out who won the winning bid for the night. During this time we ask everyone to join our Artist for cocktails and conversation during the Artist Afterglow.

Presented by the Livingston Fine Art Association, this is a members-only juried fine art show and competition. A reception will be held; Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be provided, and winners will be announced. Come meet the artists! (Date and Location: TBD)
