Lora Garcelon: A Watermedia Artist
Lora Garcelon was born in Columbus, Ohio where she took her first painting class in high school. She attended the Ohio State University, graduating in 1991 with a degree in pharmacy.
In 2005, after several years working as a pharmacist and raising a family, she picked up her brushes and started taking private painting lessons, focusing on learning design and composition.
She paints primarily in water based media- watercolor, gouache and acrylic, sometimes adding elements of collage to her work. She has recently started experimenting with acrylic marbling and incorporating this into her paintings. She paints what she sees and experiences in daily life- her family and friends, pets, and scenes from family vacations.
Lora is a signature member of Michigan Watercolor Society, where she has won several awards for her paintings. Other memberships include Livingston Fine Art Association, Brighton Art Guild, National Watercolor Society and International Society of Experimental Artists.
“My goal is to create a work that exceeds my expectations and that surprises the viewer. I love the unpredictability of watercolor. Paintings truly take on a life of their own.”
